A Classic Black-Tie Wedding at Gosfield Hall

A refined black-and-white celebration in the Grand Salon.

Jack first noticed his future wife in photographs on a mutual friend’s social media. After spotting her in several pictures, he asked about her on a work night out — spending a solid two hours hearing all about the girl he hadn’t even met yet.

The next day, he messaged her on Instagram. Their first date followed two days later.

From that point on, they were inseparable — seeing each other every day that week. Less than two months later, Jack moved into her parents’ home while they renovated what would become their forever house.

One year to the day after their first date, Jack proposed at The Marquis — the very place it had all begun. Despite her asking him at least twenty times whether he was going to propose, he still managed to completely surprise her.

Choosing Gosfield Hall

Three venue viewings were booked within days of their engagement.

But the moment they stepped into Gosfield Hall, the decision was made. The scale of the Grand Salon, the symmetry, the light — it aligned perfectly with the vision she had carried for years. The remaining appointments were cancelled.

The ceremony took place in the Grand Salon, followed by a confetti exit through the iconic blue doors into the courtyard.

The Aesthetic: Black Tie, Black & White

Sixty guests gathered for a sharply curated, black-tie celebration.

The palette is intentionally monochrome — black and white throughout — creating a timeless, editorial atmosphere. Bridesmaids wore gowns from Six Stories, complementing the bride’s gown by Mila Nova, sourced from The Wedding Shop Colchester.

The groom and his party wore tailoring from Anthony Formal Wear Colchester, reinforcing the classic tone of the day.

Florals by Christine's Florist will remain elegant and understated, allowing the architecture of the hall to speak.

Lily and Jack had their first dance to Forever After All by Luke Combs followed with Live vocals from MJ Soul and the resident DJ, carrying the celebrations through the night.

On Planning

Their advice is simple: enjoy it.

The process, they say, has been far less stressful than anticipated. Designing a day that feels entirely personal has been the most rewarding part.

A wedding that is classic. Intentional. And unapologetically theirs.
